A fully certified fire rated glazing system reduces supply chain ambiguity, specification misinterpretation or risk of product substitution. For over 30 years, Promat’s SYSTEMGLAS® range of fire-resistant glazing systems have offered fire protection from 30 minutes (E30) up to 120 minutes (EI120), whilst creating contemporary aesthetics with butt-jointed glazing and a variety of framing options.

As part of the 360-degree Wheel of Assurance, the system is produced in-house by Promat, fitted by a Promat-approved installer and a Certificate of Conformity is issued upon completion for maximum peace of mind. A variety of framing options are available, including steel and timber along calcium silicate which can be concealed in walls and floors to offer a ‘virtually frameless’ solution or over clad to suit any building interior.

Classifications of fire-resistant glass

Classifications of fire-resistant glass

There are three classifications of fire rated glass.

E – Integrity – non insulating
The ability of a material to withstand fire exposure to one side without transmission of the fire as a result of the passage of flames or hot gasses. It acts as a physical barrier to stop the fire.

EW – Integrity and low radiation
The ability of a material not to collapse in order to prevent the passage of flame to limit the heat transfer through the material.

EI – Integrity & Insulation
The ability of a material to withstand fire exposure on one side without transmission of fire to the unexposed side by limiting heat transfer due to conduction, convection or radiation (in addition to integrity). It maintains a mean temperature of 140 °C and a maximum temperature of 180 °C on the non-fire side of construction.

Promat supply a wide variety of fire rated glass with different classifications to meet a range project requirements and specifications along with technical assistance and continuous support from concept through to completion.

Fire resistant glass is always part of a system so there will always be framing or structure to retain the glass. The glass, framing and glazing materials should be tested as a system which means all components are compatible. Fire rated glass can be used with a variety of framing options, such as timber, steel and calcium silicate, to meet different project requirements and design options.

Promat supply a wide variety of fire rated glass for different framing options and applications, such as the PYROSEC® range, and also produce market leading SYSTEMGLAS® range of fire rated glazing systems with the 360o Wheel of Assurance which provides supply chain traceability. SYSTEMGLAS® Celare utilises a concealed calcium silicate frame for a contemporary ‘virtually frameless’ appearance, the over clad calcium silicate framing on SYSTEMGLAS® Advenerat complements a variety of building interiors. SYSTEMGLAS® Ligna utilises a timber framing, whilst SYSTEMGLAS® Ferro has a contemporary steel frame.
